01 Overview
DOMP is an application SoDigitale built for factories and other workplaces organised around a production line. Teams record tasks and follow each one step by step until the finished product leaves the line.
The same app is used to report incidents and shortfalls, schedule deliveries, and keep inventory and accounting up to date.
02 My role
I joined DOMP as a freelance full-stack developer in a team of 11 developers. On the backend, I developed dashboard and reporting features with Node.js and GraphQL. On the frontend, I built React components, including the image editing and annotation tools used to document incidents.
03 Engineering challenges
- Finding my way in a very large codebase, since the application had a lot of features and a team of 11 developers working on it.
- Handling real-time services in an environment where connections drop. The app was mostly used in industry by people who move around a lot, so it had to cope with interrupted connections and let them keep working without losing their place.
